HiTz Dependence Day!!!!!!!!!!

                                    Ya Boi MeMpHiTz is at it again!!!!!!!!!!! As of today HiTz committee has their first official mixtape out in circulation. For a sneak peek @ the mixtape that sure to raise eyebrows for Summer ‘09 everywhere go to HiTz-dependenceday.com to get a serving of  the raw and uncut version of of this powerhouse record label. I wasn’t able to take a full look at the mixtape but from listening to Huey’s  ”PaYOW” ft. Juelz Santana and Bobby V.I can guarantee the world is about to feel the full force of HitZ. The is one out of many examples that MeMph is living up to the motto that he has set for himself “DO WORK.” All  I gotta say is  ” In HiTz We Trust!!!!!!!!!!”

For some this face might seem unfamiliar but to others this is not a random person just trying to be a tv show host rather  he is a big name in the music industry and has alot to do with the success that some artist have made within the past 3-6 years. Of course he will get a more official introduction, but lets explain what the “The Deal” is shall we. “The Deal”(can be considered the spin-off of BET’s old show “Rap City”) is a new show featuring the hottest artists, videos and styles in hip hop. This show looks at the big ballers in music, gets very real about the issues affecting the hip hop community and puts into the spotlight what’s hot, right now. Hosting the show is Jive Records Vice President of A&R and Hitz Committee CEO Mickey “MeMpHitz” Wright, the horsepower behind stars like T-Pain, J-Kwon and Huey. The biggest names in the industry have and will be stopping by the deal every morning Mon-Fri. at 2am/1c. The Deal  takes a look at rising stars and feature artists dropping their sickest rhymes with segments like “Certified Fresh”, “Line 4 Line”, and “Spit Ya Game.”  Other segments will provide a look at the hottest lifestyle picks from gadgets to games and  will break down the latest fashion. So keep tuning in because you never know who be showing up to the “The Deal” early tomorrow morning. 

The Sasha Fierce Take Ova

                                     

                        You would think with all the success that this artist has had with music (both in the group and soloist category) and on the big screen that she would either take a long well-deserved break or just retire and start preparing to pass down the knowles/carter genes to bring into the world. Nope not this diva. After her hit single irreplaceable people wonder how could she top that. Well she not only attack again with her new hit movie “Obessed”, but with her newest album “Sasha Fierce”.  Starting with her first single “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” which might probably propelled women to pop “the big question” before a man could do it (just playing). And then she opened up many eyes with her second single “If I Were A Boy”, portraying how a women “knows” everything about the opposite sex which was replied with the remix done by the one and only R. Kelly. And now she has once again pushed out another great single from this album entitled “Ego”. The lyrics and song title needs no interpretation because they speak for themselves. I believe that once Beyonce leaves this industry not only will her fans beg for her return, but she will leave behind big shoes which will be hard to fill by any other artist in the same genre as her.

              If you look at the picture above what do you see? I know that’s that dude from off of Degrassi who got shot and was in the wheel chair. So why are you talking about him in a music blog Michael? Well not only is he that guy, he is also the new face for Yung Money  and goes by the name of Drake. Yep that’s him the Canadian actor gone rapper. But for him it has always been like this its jus the it took a bigger man to bring his talents into the light. But now that he is making his a official mark in the music business he is taking over by a land slide. Now some people say that he is even better than Lil Wayne. Since this is my blog with my thoughts and opinions on this site I should speak my mind. I believe that Drake is better than Lil Wayne. It took Wayne an almost 2 to 3 yr. hiatus to get to the status that he has now. Swagger has been placed in his corner but Drake has the presence that shuts you up and makes you listen to what he is talking about. I mean to name of a few tracks that he has raped and pillaged……I’m Still Fly, Say What’s Real prod. By his idol Kanye West,  Best I Ever Had, and Successful ft. Trey Songz and Lil Wayne. Its crazy how much praise this artist has gotten and hasn’t even officialyl dropped and album yet. Its unique to watch greatness in its building stages. Hahahahaha!!!!!! Watch Out Everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Writing Sessions with ASCAP and Kevin Shine

               I had the honor of attending a monthly event last Wednesday in which artist, producers, graphic designers, song writers, and any other individual type trying to make their mark in the industry are able to showcase their skills. This event is entitled “Writing Session”. The main point person over this whole event is A&R and producer working under Jive Records, Mr. Kevin Shine. With his team of innovative minds they have created a haven where artistic minds can breathe and be free to wonder. The main the purpose of this session was not only to get artist into the lime light but to find hot tracks and lyrics for Trey Songz and Toni Braxton. Now doing this is not an easy task to due to the fact that both of these artists have a specific style and way of approaching and pleasing their fans. “When being a producing and/or writing lyrics for an artist don’t think that what you have is what they need because you should be able to create something just for them,” says Kevin Shine. Just sitting there and observing the atmosphere that Kevin and his team has created shows that the love for music has not died but being nurtured and trained so that when the music hits the air waves there are no mistakes and no regrets.            One of the artists that Kevin introduced goes by the name of Stanza. This guy has one of the best approaches to music that I haven’t seen in a very long time. He’s fresh and still has room to grow and to become greater than he already is. I have listened to a couple of his tracks and enjoyed every single one of them. He actually ask something to speak and has no problem speaking his mind in the form of the truth in which some artists have a big problem doing now a days.        Last Wednesday I had the pleasure of meeting an upcoming producer and graphic artist by the name of March Pedro. If someone was to take an x-ray of his mind it would probably come out in the form of amusement park in which you would be unable to follow his thought process. In the music industry now a days there are three important tools you can use to get ahead in the game.  A clear and focused goal, networking, and advertising. March Pedro is using all three aspects to gear himself in the right direction.  His talents come in handy when someone needs their MySpace done or when they need to get flyers out for a special event. Not only is he assisting artists in the development of their careers but he is using his skills to showcase his talents as well. MY FINALE…….JAMIE FOXX MAKES SURE HE STAYS ON TOP!!!!!!!!

 

We all knew that he could hold a note or two but who would of thought that after ending his hit comedy “The Jamie Foxx Show” and continuing his career on the big screens that this man would turn into the new face for r&b. Making the ladies melt the speakers off and on stage Jamie Foxx knows how to be a true r&B artist. With is second album on the shelf, Intuition, he has made hit after hit on this album making sure he doesn’t lose his listeners. He has also made wise decisions on the collaborations on this album. He’s has put T.I., T-Pain, Timbaland, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, and The Dream just to name a few. But if you remember Jamie opened people up to his style with is first album “Unpredictable”. So there’s no surprise with the success that Jamie is having with this album. I can honestly say with 100% assurance that every single he put out will go over and beyond the “WOW!!!!!!!!!” factor.

Jay-Z in Concert with Kelly Clarkson???? What???

As surprising as it may be its true. Kelly Clarkson and Jay-Z were in concert together. On the campus of the University of Arizona the two artist performed. Jay-Z stated that even though this was an odd performance, but he its what he has been saying for a very long time. There is no such thing as white or black music, but there is a such thing as good or bad music. Point blank period, that’s how it really is. He also states that this performance showcased racial unity. Now in my opinion there is no problem with a variety in music at a concert. Its shows that the music industry is not only practicing freedom of speech but its practicing equality when comes to the artist who made the song. Race in my opinion as never been a factor for me when it came to the quality of music. Robin Thicke and Eminem should be a prime example for that. They broke through the genres in which they are apart of now and have left a blazing trail for others to follow in their footsteps. Aside from this Jay-Z feels as if more concerts like the one he was apart should be in the works besides the ones that are already in existence. This could be the next great step that the music industry takes and it would be for the better.

T-Pain and Maino Bring The Fire!!!!!!!!!

I never really been a Maino fan but in this case I’m starting to give him a chance. He gave a shout to all his haters on his first single, but now on this second album i think he his going into depth of who he is. And like most people say now a days, if you have T-pain featured on your track just know no matter who you are your track is going to be hot. T-pain brings this energy to a track that no one and I mean no one can just turn the back but instead that embrace it and fall in love with the track. What T-pain is doing to all the artists tracks he features on is what I like to call “The Midus Touch”. Besides my instructor, for those who are reading this blog and does not know what that phrase is then you shouldn’t be privilege to read my blog, but instead you should go pick up a book and read. But this new single “All the Above” as the perfect intro with its perfect ending. The song is not to long but not too short. It gets straight to the point. It draws you in and makes you want more as the song is fading away to its end. If you have never listen or enjoyed Maino’s music this would be a perfect time to give him a hearing chance because ya boy is going hard on this track.

Lil Wayne Gone Rock n Roll???????

Yes I did just asked a legitimate question. Is Lil Wayne going rock n roll?? Well he’s not changing his whole genre but expanded what I like to call the “Lil Wayne Empire” then yes he is doing it. We all new he could play guitar but in the rock n roll sense who would of ever thought of it. For someone reason Lil Wayne has to find a new way everyday to surprise his loyal fans and everytime he’s successful in his venture. This man pushes out more tracks than any artist in the music business that I can think of but hey I might be wrong. But this must mean that this artist works constantly day in and day out. Which probably brought him to this new project. His new hit single “Prom Queen” is one song I can put down in the genius category. From the open lead to the plot of the story to the ending of his song make no mistakes the Lil Wayne pulled of the big guns for this single and its video which was excellent in every aspect. So if Lil Wayne takes of the rock n roll world this man might be turning into to the Genghis Khan of the music industry.
